In June 2021, Aryna Sabalenka and Konstantin Koltsov were acquainted.

Given that they are both athletes, the couple has a common passion of sports. As of January 2023, Sabalenka, a professional tennis player from Belarus, was ranked No. 5 in the world. Previously, she was ranked No. 2. Koltsov, meanwhile, was a former ice hockey player who took part in two Olympic competitions.

Since the age of six, Sabalenka has been playing tennis, and in 2012, she made her professional debut in Belarus on the ITF Circuit. She made it to her maiden Grand Slam semifinal at Wimbledon in 2021 and her third Grand Slam semifinal at the U.S. Open in 2022. The athlete is featured in Netflix’s tennis documentary series Break Point. She was not, however, permitted to compete at Wimbledon in 2022 as a result of the All England Club and Lawn Tennis Association’s April 2022 announcement that players from Belarus and Russia would not be permitted to participate in any tournaments held in the United Kingdom due to the conflict in Ukraine.

In an interview after winning her 11th singles championship of her career at the Adelaide International 1 competition in January 2023, Sabalenka commented, “I’m overjoyed and extremely proud of myself. Simply very pleased with the levels I displayed this week.”

Her Instagram photographs show that she spends a lot of time with Koltsov during her free time. Whether they are on a romantic getaway or out for a night on the town, the tennis star frequently posts pictures of the couple to Instagram.

When she’s not on the court, however, the tennis pro likes to be a “normal person.” As she once told the Women’s Tennis Association, “I’m like two different persons on court and off court. Because on the court … I need to be focused and serious to show my best on the court and play my best game. But off the court, I’m trying to be like relaxed, like smiling, laughing. Like a normal person.”

Over the course of his 18-year career, Koltsov represented Belarus at both the Winter Olympics in 2002 and 2010 and the IIHF World Championships. In addition, he spent three seasons with the Pittsburgh Penguins in the NHL after being selected by the organisation in 1999. From 2008 until 2016, Koltsov participated in the Kontinental Hockey League.

According to Sabalenka’s WTA biography, the ice hockey player is from Minsk, Belarus, the same city where she was born.

Sabalenka and Koltsov became Instagram official in June 2021. On June 19, she shared a picture of Koltsov kissing her on the cheek as she smiled at the camera.

“It’s good when there is someone who is able to understand my madness?,” the tennis player wrote in the caption, adding, “but you won’t get bored with me, right @koltsov2021 ? ?❤️.”

Sabalenka and Koltsov travelled through Rome, Italy, in May 2022. She shared many pictures from the trip on Instagram, showing the couple having gelato together while posing in front of the Trevi Fountain and the Coliseum.

In July 2022, the couple also travelled to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Sabalenka posted a picture of herself clutching Koltsov’s hand as he had his other arm around her waist in a green bikini. In their collaborative Instagram photo, she only wrote, “Having fun on the beach.

Before Sabalenka was linked to Koltsov, she was engaged to someone else — though she kept her fiancé’s identity private. The tennis player confirmed her engagement news in November 2019, saying, “It’s just an engagement. I am little bit against weddings, against it as an event like it is.”

She also confirmed that her then-fiancé was not from Belarus nor her former coach Dmitry Tursunov, adding, “It’s not Tursunov (laughing). He is not from Belarus.”
