On July 3, 2023, Kimbrady Carriker, 40, was identified as the suspect in the mass massacre.
Following the horrible incident that took place in southwest Philadelphia’s Kingsessing neighborhood, police detained and identified Carriker.
The motive for the purported shooting by the suspect is still unknown.
Although Carriker has not yet been prosecuted, District Attorney Larry Krasner predicted that he will do so soon and with several charges of murder at a news conference on July 4.
According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, Tina Rosette, Carikker’s former roommate, found the claims against the shooting suspect startling.
Rosette recalls her roommate Carikker as “really smart, intelligent, creative,” and that they both enjoyed using computers.
Rosette informed the publication that during their time together as roommates, Carriker had never been observed carrying a gun.
She continued, saying that Carriker had “an aggressive approach to some things in life.”
Rosette claimed that Carriker frequently instructed kids in combat skills in order to teach them self-defense.
Cianni, Rosette’s daughter, who was living with the two at the time, had a different perspective on Carriker.
Although Carriker was “cool” in Cianni’s eyes, the now 24-year-old remembered the shooting suspect having previously shown her a weapon.
Carriker, according to the woman, “was trying to get me comfortable around guns and stuff like that.”
Carriker’s police file indicates that the suspect was sentenced to probation for minor drug and firearms offenses in 2003.
What happened in Kingsessing on July 3, 2023?
On July 3 at 8:30 p.m., Carriker is accused of opening fire in southwest Philadelphia’s Kingsessing area.
The suspect was allegedly donning a bulletproof vest at the time, according to the police.
