Who is Keith Moses? Orlando shooting suspect
On February 23rd in the evening, Keith Moses—who is accused of killing a woman, a television reporter, and a young girl—was taken into custody.
He is 19 years old and has a history of arrests that began when he was just 14.
This included arrests for grand theft, burglary, armed robberies, and domestic violence, according to NBC News.
He was a known gang member, according to the authorities, and while Orange County Sheriff John Mina claims they don’t think the shootings were gang-related, they also don’t have an explanation for why they happened.
On Wednesday night, a state prosecutor by the name of Monique H. Worrell spoke on the subject of why he was permitted to walk the streets.
She said: “There has been a lot of conversation, ‘Well, why was he on the street?'”
“Florida law prohibits me from discussing the details of any juvenile disposition … but I will say that juvenile dispositions are not qualified as convictions.”
According to reports, the shootings started on Wednesday around 11 a.m. when Nathacha Augustin, 38, and a friend were hanging out in a car.
Moses appeared “down,” in accordance with the arrest warrant, and they offered him a ride.
The friend claimed that after getting in the car, he sat behind Augustin when, about 30 seconds later, he heard a loud bang and noticed Augustin bleeding, deputies told NBC.
According to the arrest warrant, Moses fled on foot as the friend stopped the car and dialled 911.
Sherriff Mina later reported that Moses allegedly returned to the crime scene and shot the two journalists when they arrived at the scene at around 4 o’clock.
Reporter Dylan Lyons of Spectrum News 13 died, and photojournalist Jesse Walden was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Moses allegedly entered a nearby house after that, where he is accused of shooting T’yonna Major, 9, and her mother.
The mother is reportedly in critical condition, and the child passed away.
Moses was accused of murdering Nathacha Augustin at the scene.
In a press conference on Thursday, February 23, 2023, Sheriff Mina expressed his confidence that Moses would be charged with the additional offences.
According to reports, the suspect is refusing to speak with police.
