KATIE GRAND is well-known for her work as a fashion journalist.
The model has spent her entire career in the fashion industry, but who exactly is she?
Who is Katie Grand? Steve Mackey’s wife
Katie Grand is a British stylist, creative director, and fashion journalist who was previously married to Pulp’s Steve Mackey, who died in March 2023.
In 2009, she launched the fashion magazine LOVE, followed by the fashion bible and creative agency Perfect in 2020.
Katie has previously worked for Topshop, Louis Vuitton, and Prada.
She was born in Leeds in April 1971 and grew up in Birmingham’s Selly Oak neighbourhood.
In 2009, Mackey married his longtime girlfriend, stylist and fashion journalist, Katie Grand. He lived in North London with his wife, and son, Marley (born 1996).
On March 2 2023, it was announced on Pulp’s Twitter that he had died that morning
Katie Grand, a British stylist, creative director, and fashion journalist, was born in April 1971. In 2009, she founded the fashion publication LOVE, and in 2020, the fashion bible and creative agency Perfect.
If Katie Grand is skilled at anything, it’s defying convention. Additionally, she has the connections to call on a few famous friends as needed. In light of this, when pregnant Abbey Clancy, girlfriend of England footballer Peter Crouch, and Kelly Brook walked the Giles Deacon runway at London Fashion Week, all eyes were on Grand. She had selected the Deacon models, and Grand was the one who magically transported Kerry Katona from the Iceland commercials to a front-row seat at the performance. As a result, there were numerous headlines and some raised questions in the fashion industry.
Grand, the magazine’s editor-in-chief, has taken photos of Clancy, Brook, and Katona for Love. Clancy is obviously appreciative even though none of them stand out as high-fashion icons. People had always put me in a box, but Katie styled me in a way that no one had ever seen before, the woman claims. “Just because they haven’t had the typical ‘cool model’ career path doesn’t mean they’re any less valid than someone like Agyness [Deyn],” says Grand, who is currently in Italy for Milan fashion week.
Grand always seems to be on the lookout for something bright and brand-new, like a magpie. April saw Katona at the table next to her while she was having dinner with friends. According to Grand, “We couldn’t stop staring at her and saying, ‘Oh my god, she’s gorgeous. “Should we write about her for the magazine, I wondered. That was all there was to it.”
Grand, however, has such strong influence that she can make anyone or anything interesting to a different audience. She says, “There are times I think it’s good to not be as highbrow. “Fashion is frequently quite elitist. Use various people whenever possible.”
If Grand, who is married to Pulp bassist Steve Mackey, possesses a talent in addition to her artistic eye, it is in squeezing herself into the action, cultivating lifelong friendships, and forging connections with powerful individuals. Stella McCartney, Marc Jacobs, Luella Bartley, Agyness Deyn, and Victoria Beckham are some of her friends. Her long-term relationship with Deacon — first as his girlfriend, then as a collaborator — has transformed both of their lives.
