Years after he’d been mayor of his native state for seven years, Brandon Presley declared his candidacy for governor.
The contender for governor is wed to Katelyn Mabus, who also has some political connections.
Who is Brandon Presley’s wife, Katelyn Mabus?
Former Mississippi Mayor Brandon Presley married Katelyn Mabus on August 6, 2023.
Mabus works for the USDA Farm Service Agency as a county program technician.
“Welcome to the Presley family,” Brandon shared on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Forever and always, the joy of my life. She’s going to make a great first lady.”
A similar statement was posted by Katelyn, who said, “My heart is truly full with love and happiness. I am so grateful to stand by your side forever.”
For example, Katelyn is the cousin of former Mississippi governor Ray Mabus, while Brandon is the second cousin of Elvis Presley.
The grandfathers of Elvis Presley and Brandon, Noah Presley and Jesse Presley, were brothers.
Regarding their famous family ties, the former mayor reflected: “I was a 13-year-old boy and I had saved up a little money working at Mr. Jimmy Rogers’ auto parts store in Nettleton and put out an ad in a little local publication that said Wayne Dowdy for governor, signed Brandon Presley.
“Wayne Dowdy that year was running against Ray Mabus, and now I’m marrying a Mabus.”
On January 12, 2023, Commissioner Presley announced he was running for Governor of Mississippi against incumbent Tate Reeves.
“I’m running for governor because I know Mississippi can do better.
“We got a state filled with good people but horrible politicians and that includes our governor.
“Tate Reeves is a man with zero conviction and maximum corruption.
“Mississippi deserves leaders who fight for our families, children, and workers rather than themselves and their rich friends.”
He added: “We deserve leaders who will never forget where they came from or who put them in office.
“That’s why I’m running for Governor of Mississippi.”
Presley served as the mayor of Nettleton, Mississippi from July 2001 to March 2007.
Having defeated Mabel Murphree in the previous year’s election, he was sworn in as the state’s Public Service Commissioner for the Northern District in January 2008.
