JUSTIN Bolsen has won $100K, a trip to the 2023 Tournament of Champions, and the Jeopardy! High School Reunion Tournament.
Although some fans found the final clue to be oddly quaint, the Brown University freshman appeared ecstatic, and they were too given that he won by just $363.
The fiery finale of the 14-episode High School Reunion Tournament was hosted by 47-year-old Mayim.
Three contestants remain out of the 27 former Teen Tournament competitors who first squared off in 2018 and 2019.
Tonight and yesterday, Justin competed against Jackson Jones, a junior at Vanderbilt, and Maya Wright, a senior at Emory.
The student with the highest combined score from both games wins the two-day total point finals.
Jackson had the best score in the opening finals game, so things appeared promising on paper (which in a wild glitch spoiled the results at the top of the episode).
But in the end, Justin, the youngest and underdog who had much to prove after losing in the first round in 2018, received the highest ratings.
‘CONGRATULATIONS JUSTIN!’
When Jackson hit the final Daily Double of the episode, he had the chance to put the episode to rest, but he was wrong and lost $3.2K.
It was a close race, and Maya was in first place with $14,200 (plus $3,370 from yesterday), Justin was second with $11,000 (plus $13,570 from yesterday), and Jackson was third with $5,600 (plus $24,000 from yesterday).
It was referred to as “a truly tragic street lamp” and “a high and skinny pyramid of iron ladders” after it was completed in the late 19th century, according to Final Jeopardy’s “Landmarks” category.
When the 30-second Jeopardy! song “What is The Eiffel Tower” was answered correctly by all contestants, Justin gave a thumbs up.
He did, in fact, almost double up to $21,991 and his two-day score came out to $35,561.
Jackson was left with slightly less money ($35,198), and Maya was left with $24,610, so Justin narrowly but firmly won and appeared ecstatic. He grinned triumphantly as a golden $100,000 prize appeared over his podium.
Thanks to your $100,000 prize and inclusion in the Tournament of Champions, Justin, congratulations! As the live audience cheered, Mayim exclaimed.
The other two finalists received cash as well; Jackson received $50,000 and Maya received $25,000. Everyone applauded politely.
