One person has been detained by Mexican authorities on suspicion of being involved in the two-dead, violent kidnapping of four US citizens.
The house where cartel members were imprisoned for days and tortured their American friends Latavia “Tay” McGee, Eric James Williams, Shaeed Woodard, and Zindell Brown was being watched over by Jose Guadalupe N., a 24-year-old Mexican national.
Guadalupe’s affiliation with the vicious Gulf Cartel, the gang thought to be responsible for the group’s kidnapping, has not yet been confirmed by the authorities.

According to relatives, the four friends from South Carolina crossed the southern border to help McGee get a tummy tuck.
Shortly after entering the crime-ridden city of Matamoros, they found themselves in the crosshairs of a shootout between rival cartel gangs.
In a brutal, on camera witnessed kidnapping, their captors forced them into the back of a pickup truck while holding them at gunpoint.
In order to avoid detection, the group was moved around Tamaulipas several times. To avoid rescue attempts, they were even briefly taken to a medical facility, according to Villarreal.
The friends were mistaken for Haitian drug smugglers, according to a theory put forth by police, who are still investigating the kidnapping’s motive.
Investigators are still searching for additional attackers because Guadalupe is the only one who has been detained thus far in the case.
For the safe return of the kidnapped people and the capture of their captors, the FBI had offered a $50,000 reward.
