Who is Jema Donahue?
Jema Donahue, née Heffernan, a cosmetologist from Berlin, Germany, was born on October 24, 1985.
Her family first relocated to Mississippi in 1990 before eventually settling in Knob Noster, Missouri.
She welcomed her son Benjamin at the age of 16, and three years later, Carmella was born.
She met her future husband Javon Donahue at the University of Central Missouri, when they both were students.
Jema and Javon got married and moved to Pennsylvania in 2011.
Due to suspected domestic violence, Jema requested a restraining order be placed against Javon in March 2017.
Jema was detained by authorities on April 22, 2017, in relation to Javon’s passing.
She was convicted of the following on November 16, 2018:
- Involuntary manslaughter
- Armed criminal action
- Unlawful use of a weapon
- Felony murder
- Tampering with evidence
- Abandonment of a corpse
Where is Jema now?
Jema was given a 10-year prison term on January 28, 2019, for killing her late spouse Javon in a manslaughter.
At the Chillicothe Correctional Facility in Livingston County, Missouri, she is serving out her term.
She admits the event that resulted in her husband’s death happened when Javon allegedly confronted her with a gun.
After a scuffle that followed the alleged confrontation, Jema acknowledged accidently shooting the man four times.
