Investigations are underway into allegations that a female prison nurse employed at one of the most secure prisons in England had a “fling” with a prisoner.
Alexandra Powell, 31, is charged with establishing a romantic relationship with Jay Bell, a prisoner at the time. However, what is the nature of Bell’s identity and the claimed events between them? Here’s all the information you require.
Who is Jay Bell?
Jay Bell is a formerly incarcerated person who was convicted of a traffic rage offense and given a ten-month sentence.
Bell is a father of two and is known to have had a long-term relationship.
The former prisoner has a history of being incarcerated; the most recent instance was in December 2022, after a violent road rage incident involving two motorcycle riders in London.
Bell was among three inmates at The Mount Jail in Hemel Hempstead who had sex with a prison guard two years ago.
Sarah Milburn was sentenced to 16 months in prison in 2021 after entering a guilty plea to three counts of misconduct in a public position.
Beginning on July 23, 2017, Milburn was briefly working as an officer at the prison, according to prosecutor James Keeley.
After being freed from HMP Aylesbury, a category C prison, in September, Bell got to know Alexandra Powell, a prison nurse.
What happened between Jay Bell and Alexandra Power?
Alexandra Power, a prison nurse at the maximum security facility, is charged with initiating a romantic relationship with Bell.
While incarcerated, Bell is claimed to have landed a job in a prison reception, which was purportedly close to Power’s temporary nursing job at the time.
Power, a mother of two who was already in a relationship, called the affair a “false allegation” when it was brought up at her house.
She declined to address the allegations in more detail.
Prior to her prison role, Power is believed to have previously trained as a beauty technician, as well as running her own cosmetics company.
Following the claims made, Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust have now launched an internal investigation.
A statement from a Trust spokesperson read: ”We have been made aware of an allegation involving a temporary worker which we are investigating.
”While this investigation is ongoing, the staff member has been asked not to attend the service location they usually work in.
”We should stress that this is a neutral action to allow a full investigation to take place. We are not able to comment further on such matters while they are taking place.”
Power has since been transferred from working at HMP Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire while the internal inquiry is ongoing, as the statement above confirms.
According to MailOnline, the two are apparently living together in Milton Keynes after Bell’s release.
