On Friday, the federal government announced the appointment of Javed Akbar Riaz, a BS-20 police officer, to the position of Director General (BS-21) of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
According to the statement from the Establishment Division, Javed Akbar Riaz, who is currently employed by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), has been named DG NAB. It states that with immediate effect and until further orders, he has been transferred and his services have been made available to NAB for further posting as DG under Section 10 of the Civil Servants Act, 1973.
According to sources, the NAB chairman appointed Javed Akbar Riaz as DG on a deputation basis for an initial period of three years on standard terms and conditions with effect from October 14, 2022, in accordance with the Establishment Division’s notification dated October 12, 2022. Upon arriving, he will take over as DG of NAB Karachi, according to sources.
The sources added that one DG and three Directors who are now working in KPK, Balochistan, and the federal capital have had their posts or transfers approved by the Chairman NAB, and a notification of such postings or transfers has also been issued.
According to sources, the Chairman NAB has approved Brig (r) Farooq Naser Awan’s posting or transfer from NAB Peshawar (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) to NAB Headquarters (HQ), Islamabad on an attachment basis for a specific assignment. Similar to this, Nauman Aslam, Director (BS-20), has been transferred from NAB Balochistan to NAB Peshawar (KPK) as Director in his own pay and scale. He will oversee NAB Peshawar (KPKoperations )’s until further instructions, and he will exercise all the DG, NAB’s delegated powers (KPK). Zafar Iqbal Khan, Director NAB (HQ) Islamabad, is also moved and appointed DG, NAB Balochistan with his or her own pay and scale. Additionally, NAB (KPK) Peshawar Director Izhar Ahmed Awan has been sent to NAB (HQ), Islamabad.
