A Pennsylvania police officer who assisted in transporting the Idaho quadruple murder suspect from his court appearance on Tuesday attracted the attention of several social media users and quickly garnered acclaim for his nice looks rather than his bravery.
The 32-year-old Monroe County deputy, Deputy James Nunez, was one of several officers seen escorting alleged killer Bryan Kohberger out the courthouse.
Kohberger, who normally resides in Washington not far from Idaho State but was spending the holidays with family in the Poconos, started the extradition procedure back to Idaho during the planned appearance.
However, it also saw Nunez – a hulking man with a chiseled jaw line and toned physique – enjoy some newfound celebrity for his devilishly good looks.
Many were quick to point out some of the officers’ arresting attributes on social media, with some of the posts proving more graphic than others.
One person commented, “Seen enough of BK for now,” in reference to the suspected murderer, a 28-year-old PhD candidate at Idaho University who is accused of killing students Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, Madison Mogen, 21, and Ethan Chapin, 20.
Before praising the officer for his service, the woman added, “Let’s just look at these photographs for a little to lighten the feed.”
‘Hello officer,’ another coy comment from one captivated onlooker read, with the user adding several emojis to indicate the well-proportioned policeman had caught her eye.
‘I suddenly feel like committing a felony,’ someone else added.
Another user gushed: ‘Def noticed all that glory before I noticed bk.’
One post read: ‘I noticed him the moment I saw the video clip on the news.’
A more senior suitor added: ‘Old lady here but hot dam.’
Many shared memes to capture their feelings for the officer, while others stuck to the written word.
Within days following the deputy’s television debut, a number of women made the observation that they appeared to have reached an understanding that Nunez had “broken the internet” despite the news of Kohberger’s arrest and alleged crimes.
Nunez, a Poconos native and former prison officer, has been a member of the force for more than three years. Prior to that, he was employed as a corrections officer in Monroe.
Users wondered aloud if the deputy, who was seen transporting the suspect on Tuesday, is single even as Kohberger’s court case loomed in the wake of his stunning detention earlier in the week.
But despite the media attention given to a Monroe County police, Kohberger was really apprehended at his family’s home in Albrightsville, Pennsylvania, according to information discovered by a Hancock County Sheriff’s deputy during a traffic stop in Indiana.
The killings had drawn widespread attention due to their mystery and were the subject of an investigation that lasted more than a month before the arrest.
The deputy pulled Kohberger up on December 15 at about 10:41 a.m., almost two weeks before his arrest. The deputy’s bodycam film shows the moment he approached the 28-year-old and his father Michael in their automobile on the I-70 just outside Indianapolis.
