ERLING HAALAND has had a spectacular first season in the Premier League and is on pace to set a new mark for the most goals scored in a single season.
The 22-year-old Manchester City star, however, has also enjoyed some success off the field.
Haaland and his fiancée Isabel Haugseng Johansen were glimpsed earlier this week in London’s West End.
There is a solid explanation why the couple is rarely seen together.
Isabel, 19, plays football for her own team.
In truth, that is how the couple fell in love.
At age five, Haaland joined the neighbourhood squad Bryne.
Before being signed by Molde, he would later spend more than a decade with the Norwegian team.
After a wild debut in the adult game, Leeds-born Haaland later signed with RB Salzburg, Borussia Dortmund, and Man City.
But Haaland first encountered Isabel, who has a part-time job at a clothing shop, at Bryne.
The couple met while he was playing for Dortmund and grew up together in the club’s school.
A source told The Sun: “[Their relationship] seems to be pretty serious.
“Isabel has travelled to Germany and England to see Erling and now she’s been with him [on holiday].
An insider added: “Erling has the world at his feet — and women queuing up to be his partner.
“But he’s a very sensible lad and it makes perfect sense he’s with a girl from his home town who he’s known for years.
“He needs to be able to trust the people in his life and just concentrate on football.”
With Norway failing to qualify for Qatar, the pair travelled to Haaland’s home in warm Marbella during the World Cup break.
On New Year’s Eve, they were also photographed at the upscale Manchester eatery The Ivy.
Erling and Isabel most recently went buying on Oxford Street to celebrate the Man City star’s new £20 million deal with Nike.
Since his previous contract ended in January, Haaland had been without a footwear deal.
