Season 5 of The Handmaid’s Tale on Hulu will include Genevieve Angelson playing Gladys Wheeler. The Handmaid’s Tale’s upcoming season will debut on September 14, 2022, and is based on Margaret Atwood’s book of the same name.
A dystopian television programme in the United States called The Handmaid’s Tale centres on the Second American Civil War. The US government was destroyed by the totalitarian Republic of Gilead, whose fertile women—also known as Handmaids—are forced into childbearing enslavement.
Similar to its roots, the series addresses the issues of oppressed women in patriarchal settings and their struggle for freedom from enslavement. Angelson will take on the part of Gladys Wheeler, a wealthy Canadian who idolises Serena and is responsible for the growth of Gilead in Toronto.

She joined the House of Lies cast on Showtime in 2013 and plays Caitlin Hobart. Det. Nicole Gravely in Backstrom was played by Angelson in 2014 in place of Mammie Gummer. She appeared in the Good Girls Revolt Amazon original series in 2016, which was terminated after one season.
Titans, based on DC Comics, featured Angelson as well. She has also contributed to two episodes of the television show This Is Us. Angelson has performed in Broadway shows in addition to television and movies, such as the Tony Award-winning play Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike.
In the upcoming season of the acclaimed series, Angelson will play the pro-Serena Mrs. Gladys Wheeler.

Despite her character’s inclination towards the series’ antagonist, Angelson told TV Line that she would not define Gladys Wheeler as a “bad guy.”
“In order to play Mrs. Wheeler, I couldn’t say ‘I’m playing a bad guy.’ I had to say, ‘I’m playing someone who’s willing to do anything to continue the human race, and that’s what we’re up against.’ So, do I want to be the person I am being? Maybe not. But I am accepting that is my reality, that is what I’m doing. That was how I got by with that.”
