While Fani Willis is investigating Donald Trump in Georgia, there is still a lot of interest online in her ex-partner.
Here is all there is to know about Fred, the ex-husband of the Fulton County district attorney.
Fred Willis: Who is he?
DA Fani Willis’s ex-husband is Fred Willis. While she was a student at Washington, DC’s Howard University, the couple met.
On the “day she took the bar exam,” she saw her future husband, who was “working an extra job as a videographer,” according to Time magazine.
“He had some really nice legs,” Fani observed.
“It gave me two gorgeous girls.”
“So that’s why I chose to remain in Atlanta.
“I received my Emory diploma in May. By November, I had gotten married.
When did Fani Willis and Fred get divorced?
In 2005, Fani and her husband got divorced. She “continued to climb after the split, eventually serving as chief deputy DA, before going back to private practice in 2018,” according to Time.
Do they have any children?
The couple had two daughters, and Willis raised them alone for the majority of her professional life.
“I divorced when my children were very young, four and five years old,” she said.
“And as a result, their mother had always been employed. I always had a couch in my office so that my kids could come and sleep there while I got ready for trial.”
According to public records, one of the daughters is 24 years old and is a journalism student at a university.
Fani Willis is who?
Due to her investigation into former President Donald Trump, Fani is receiving media attention.
A broad indictment against the former US president has been filed by the district attorney of Fulton County, Georgia, accusing him of attempting to rig the 2020 election.
Willis was raised by her father, a radical political figure who supported black rights and a criminal defense attorney, who was also a member of the Black Panthers when she was born in Inglewood, California, in 1971.
Prior to earning a law degree from Emory University in Georgia in 1996, she completed her undergraduate studies at the historically black Howard University in 1993.
Willis joined the Fulton County District Attorney’s office just five years later, and she worked there until 2018 in a variety of divisions.
According to the BBC, she is regarded as a tenacious prosecutor capable of obtaining convictions in high-profile and complicated cases by her fellow Georgia attorneys and those who have worked with her.
The DA has insisted that her office followed the same procedures it would if someone had possibly committed a crime in her district during the investigation into Trump’s activities.
In February 2023, she told, “The truth is, we have a job, and the job is just to try to find the truth.”
“We will simply handle the Trump case the same as every other.”
