One of the most notorious prisoners in the UK is the mother, EIRA Peterson.
In a recent Channel 4 documentary, footage from 2017 of Bronson’s mother discussing her son’s crimes was shown.
Who is Eira Peterson?
Charles Bronson’s mother, Eira Peterson, has been referred to as “Britain’s most notorious prisoner.”
She is a native of Wales’ Aberystwyth.

In snippets shown in Bronson: Fit to be Freed?, a recent Channel 4 documentary? About her son, Eira Peterson spoke.
He’s always been the ideal son to me, she said, treating me with respect and everything.
Then Ms. Peterson talked about her husband, Joe.
She explained how intensely jealous her husband would become, saying: “He has struck a few [men] in the bars I’ve been to. Joe is a boxer, and it resembled Sergeant Major somewhat.”
Eira revealed that Bronson’s life of crime began when he was a young child when she was asked if Joe’s tendency to be cruel may have had an effect on her son.
Eira explained: “I think he started stealing,”
“I remember going in the bedroom one day and he had pencils and little notebooks,” she added, before explaining that Bronson didn’t have the funds to get his hands on such items as a child.
Ms Peterson then told the interviewer that upon finding the stolen items, Bronson said: ”I took them.”
In 1952, Bronson was born in Luton.
When Bronson was a teenager, his family eventually relocated to Ellesmere Port, Cheshire.

He can be heard calling his son George in the opening scene of the documentary Bronson: Fit to be Free?
During the call Bronson says: ”I’ve got a horrible, violent, nasty past, but I’ve never killed anybody and I’ve never hurt a woman.
“I’m focused, I’m settled, I can actually smell and taste freedom like I’ve never, ever done in me life
One of the longest serving inmates in the UK, Bronson, is anticipated to be released or not by the Parole Board.
He has been denied parole several times because he was deemed to be a danger to the public.
Bronson claims he has no regrets about his violent crimes despite his upcoming hearing.
“You can’t go through life regretting your life,” he says.
“I used to run around with guns and I was violent, so I deserved to go to jail. But I don’t regret that because that was my life.”
