After tweeting that she had been “wedged” between two fat passengers during a three-hour flight, Sydney Watson, a passenger on American Airlines, requested compensation from the firm.
Several internet users engaged in a discussion on the doctor’s error on the social media platform and whether or not to criticise obese people for their weight. In the interim, the airlines issued a statement of their own.
I am currently – literally – WEDGED between two OBESE people on my flight.
This is absolutely NOT acceptable or okay. If fat people want to be fat, fine. But it is something else entirely when I'm stuck between you, with your arm rolls on my body, for 3 hours. pic.twitter.com/9uIqcpJO8I

Sydney Watson tweeted on Monday, October 11, 2022, that it was “absolutely NOT appropriate or okay” to spend three hours “trapped” between people’s arm rolls. She added the following to another tweet while tagging American Airlines:
“I just experienced getting sweat on, touched without my consent, smacked in the face and subjected to hours of no personal space.”
The flight attendant on the aircraft repeatedly asked Watson if she needed anything and gave her “the ‘this is f**ked’ pity smile,” according to Watson.
I don't care if this is mean. My entire body is currently being touched against my wishes. I can't even put the arm rests down on either side because there's no fking room.
I'm sick of acting like fatness to this extent is normal. Let me assure you, it is not.

The Australian/American political analyst also admitted that she “swapped seats” with one of the obese women’s brother. However, he declined the offer.
Sydney Watson continued by emphasising that if an obese person wants to fly, they must purchase two seats.
