The NatWest CEO, Dame Alison Rose, is under pressure from the government to retire. Downing Street and Chancellor Jeremy Hunt have “significant concerns” about her behavior, according to the report.
According to Hunt, he has “significant concerns” about how Rose handled the closure of Nigel Farage’s bank accounts. In an interview, Dame said she made a “serious error of judgment” regarding Farage’s business dealings with Coutts, a private bank and a division of the NatWest Group.
Dame Alison Rose: who is she?
Dame Alison Marie Rose-Slade DBE, a British banker, is the NatWest Group’s CEO. On November 1st of this year, she succeeded Ross McEwan as CEO.
Alison Rose was the first woman to lead a significant UK lender after managing government investigations into the underrepresentation of women in business. She received the title of Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2023.
Rose started working for National Westminster Bank in 1992 as a graduate trainee. She was selected to sit on RBS’s executive committee on February 27, 2014. In September 2018, she was chosen to lead the Treasury’s investigation into barriers faced by women in business. In November 2018, she became a deputy chief executive at NatWest Holdings.
Rose was awarded the Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) in the 2023 New Year Honors for her contributions to the financial services industry. Later that month, Dr. Heather Melville, York University’s new chancellor, gave her an honorary degree.
Rose is wed to UBS banker David Slade in terms of her private life. The son and daughter of the couple are their only children. She and her family are residents of Highgate in London.
