Last year, CRYSTINA PONCHER created boxing’s first ever all-female broadcast team, making history in the process.
The Joshua Franco vs. Andrew Moloney fight in June 2021 will be covered by the Top Rank analyst, 38, and professional fighter Mikaela Mayer.
Poncher has more than ten years of experience covering the NFL and fight nights.
Top-ranking tycoon Poncher has been hailed by Bob Arum as “one of boxing’s top commentators and a pioneer for women in the sport.”
Poncher, a native of California, acquired her skills at Long Beach State, where she graduated with a degree in broadcast journalism.
She earned her degree in 2008, and it didn’t take her long to gain her big break.
Poncher worked for Segundo TV and Fox Sports West before joining Top Rank in 2010.
She transitioned from reporter to play-by-play broadcaster during the past ten years, interviewing some of the top athletes along the way.
She is married with two young children, yet she doesn’t let caring for her family interfere with her profession.
Poncher has consistently worked ringside since making her colour commentary debut in 2013.
She has also worked for the NFL Network as a pitchside reporter and in-studio anchor.
She was only the second woman to undertake play-by-play responsibilities on a boxing telecast in March 2019 (the first being Claudia Trejos in 2010).
Fans are also impressed by Poncher’s boxing skills, as evidenced by the influx of supportive comments on recent pictures on her Instagram profile.
One said: “Thank you for demonstrating to our girls that anything is possible! The sky’s the limit!”
Another added: “You are the undisputed queen of boxing.”
A third said: “Flawless and excellent boxing knowledge!!”
While a fourth gushed: “You’re awesome, and I won’t rest until you are a full-time play by play boxing announcer on a major network.”
