Caitlin Clark put on a show with 41 points, 12 assists, and 10 rebounds to help No. 2 seed Iowa defeat fifth-seeded Louisville 97-83 on Sunday and advance to their first women’s Final Four in 30 years.
The unanimous first-team All-American led the Hawkeyes to the NCAA Tournament national quarterfinals in Dallas on Friday night, continuing her season-long dominance.
Clark was born in Des Moines, Iowa to Anne Nizzi-Clark and Brent Clark. Her mother was born in Italy. Clark’s father played softball and basketball at Simpson College.
Brothers Blake Clark and Colin Clark-
Clark has two siblings, Blake and Colin. Clark comes from a family of eleven athletes, including her father, who played baseball and basketball at Simpson College, and her older brother Blake, who plays football at Iowa State. Colin, her younger brother, is little known.
Clark was a standout basketball player at Dowling Catholic High School in Des Moines. She joined the Iowa Hawkeyes in 2020 and quickly rose to become one of the country’s top players.
Her freshman season was successful, as she led the Big Ten in scoring and finished second in the country with a 26.6 point per game average. She also averaged 7.1 assists and 5.9 rebounds per game. She continued her strong play in 2021-22, leading the Hawkeyes to the NCAA Tournament’s Sweet Sixteen.
Her freshman season with the Iowa Hawkeyes, she was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year and a consensus All-American. She also won the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award for best shooting guard in the country. She was also named First Team All-Big Ten and a finalist for the Wooden Award, given to the best college basketball player.
