Bilal Lashari is a Pakistani film director, cinematographer, screenwriter and occasional actor. In 2013, he made Waar, which now holds the record for being the seventh-highest earning Pakistani film, as his directorial debut. A remake of the 1979 film Maula Jatt is his upcoming endeavour. The Legend of Maula Jatt is the name of the movie, and its trailer debuted on December 21, 2018. At the 2014 ARY Film Awards, Lashari won prizes in four categories for his first film as a filmmaker.

Lashari is a Baloch native from birth. His paternal grandfather was a landlord, a lawyer, and a poet, and his father, Kamran Lashari, is a former top Pakistani bureaucrat who worked as a Federal Secretary and made significant contributions to cultural preservation in Lahore. [6] His other younger brother, Omar Lashari, is a financial analyst with a Cornell education. His younger brother, Rohail Lashari, an MBA graduate from HEC Paris, served as the main vocalist and rhythm guitarist for the Lahore-based band Jhol from 2010 to 2015.
Lashari was raised in Pakistan and attended neighbourhood schools. He went to college there, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, California.
Bilal Lashari is single. In recent interview he opened up about his marriage plans and said , “I am too occupied with film-making for the past few years, and hardly have any time to give marriage a thought. Now that I’m a bit relaxed, there’s a huge chance I will consider settling down and eventually getting married.”

After his return to Pakistan, Lashari started directing music videos. For “Sajni,” he won “Best Pop Video” at the MTV Pakistan Music Video Awards and “Best Music Video Director” twice at the Lux Style Awards. He also directed the Meekal Hassan Band’s “Chal Bulleya.” He has collaborated with musicians and ensembles like Jal, Entity Paradigm, Mekaal Hassan Band, Abrarul Haq, and Atif Aslam. He also produced the “Chal Bulleya” music video for the Meekal Hassan Band. During the pre-production of Khuda Kay Liye in 2004, Lashari served as Shoaib Mansoor’s assistant director for a brief period of time.
Lashari finally began working on Waar in 2013. The movie received favourable reviews when it debuted and at the time had the biggest anticipation in Pakistan. It was his first time directing a film. The Legend of Maula Jatt, which he will work on again in 2022, debuted to favourable reviews and is widely regarded as Pakistan’s biggest and most expensive film. Additionally, it is the first Pakistani movie to employ the Red Epic W camera, which is typically employed by several Hollywood productions.
