Three of Lizzo’s former dancers reportedly filed a lawsuit against her in August 2023 for alleged sexual harassment.
Here is everything we know about Arianna Davis, one of these dancers.
Who is dancer Arianna Davis?
Dancer Arianna Davis, 24, is from Indiana. Since she was two years old, Davis has studied a variety of dance forms, such as ballet, hip-hop, musical theater, jazz, tap, and more.
In addition to being a dancer, Davis is also listed as a singer and actress in her Instagram bio.
Davis submitted a video that went viral when he applied to dance for Lizzo during the pandemic.
The dancer was then hired by Lizzo’s team to compete in the Watch Out for the Big Grrrls dance competition.
On June 24, 2023, Davis accepted a position teaching dance at the Los Angeles location of Soho Dance Studio.
Additionally, Davis operates a thrift shop on Instagram under the name Thrifts by Ari.
Why are Lizzo’s dancers suing her?
On Tuesday, August 1, 2023, a complaint was made against Lizzo and her production company, Big Grrrl Touring, Inc.
The plaintiffs speaking against Lizzo are three of her former dancers: Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez.
The complaint claims that Lizzo was the victim of “sexual, religious, and racial harassment, disability discrimination, assault, and false imprisonment.”
Ron Zambrano, the plaintiff’s lawyer, made the following comment: “The stunning nature of how Lizzo and her management team treated their performers seems to go against everything Lizzo stands for publicly, while privately she weight-shames her dancers and demeans them in ways that are not only illegal but absolutely demoralizing.”
Lizzo is also accused of pressuring her dancers to participate in a nude photo shoot during her dance competition show in Amsterdam, according to the complaint.
Lizzo allegedly approached Rodriguez aggressively, cracking her knuckles and balling her fists, leading Rodriguez to resign, according to the complaint, and she “feared that Lizzo intended to hit her and would have done so if one of the other dancers had not intervened.”
Williams and Davis claimed they were fired, despite Rodriguez’s claim that she made the decision to part ways with the company.
Who else was mentioned in the lawsuit?
Shirlene Quigley, the leader of Lizzo’s dance team, was also mentioned in the complaint.
Quigley allegedly preached Christianity and her views on premarital sex while at work, according to the plaintiffs.
Quigley was also accused by the dancers of “oversharing her sex life and masturbatory habits with her husband.”
In a different incident, Quigley was accused of disclosing a dancer’s virginity in interviews, on social media, and at work.
