SERGIO GARCIA returns to action at The Open THIS WEEK, hoping for another major victory.
The 2017 Masters champion is one of the most popular players on the tour and will be cheered on by wife Angela throughout the tournament.
Who is Angela Akins?
Angela Akins was born in 1985 in Texas.
She is the cousin of New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees and the daughter of former Texas Longhorns quarterback Marty Akins.
Angela worked as a golf reporter for Fox Sports Southwest before moving to Florida to work for the Golf Channel.
She met Garcia through her work at the Golf Channel.
Garcia isn’t her first marriage; she previously married former golfer Ross Hamann.
She enjoys golf and was a member of the University of Texas women’s team.
Angela has a three-stroke handicap.
Sergio Garcia announced his engagement to Angela Akins in January 2017, and a few months later won the Dubai Desert Classic.
On July 29, 2017, the couple married in Texas.
Love appears to be a good fit for the 42-year-old, who was previously known as the most talented golfer to never win a Major.
Garcia, on the other hand, has broken his Majors duck and proudly donned the famous Green Jacket since meeting Angela.
He had previously finished runner-up in the Open twice and had eight other top-ten finishes.
Garcia won his only Major in April 2017 at the Masters.
Azalea Adele, the couple’s daughter, was born on March 14, 2018. Enzo Akins Garca, their first child, was born in April.
