With their first wife, Joanne, Hull has five kids: son Bobby Jr., daughter Michelle, and sons Blake, Brett, and Bart.

The first father-and-son team to score more than 50 goals in an NHL season and 600 goals overall was Bobby and Brett.
The only father-son team to have won the Lady Byng Trophy, the Hart Memorial Trophy (Bobby twice, Brett once), and been the league’s top goal scorers is Bobby and Brett (Bobby seven times and Brett three times).
Hull routinely took his sons, Bobby Jr., Blake, and Brett, along to team practises so they could skate because he wanted them to have the same opportunities he did. The Hull boys were causing so much trouble before to the start of the 1965–1966 season that the Blackhawks barred children from taking part in team workouts. Hull announced during a brief walkout that he wanted to be traded. This was one of the few disagreements he has had with management during his tenure.
Brett played his final five games of his career with the Phoenix Coyotes in 2005 while donning his father’s retired No. 9. Before suffering recurrent injuries, Bart Hull was a talented running back for the football team of Boise State University. He also spent one season each with the Ottawa Rough Riders and Saskatchewan Roughriders in the CFL.
He briefly played hockey professionally with the Idaho Steelheads after football. Blake and Bobby Jr. both participated in varsity and junior hockey. Bobby Jr. helped the Cornwall Royals win the Memorial Cup in 1980.
