Select Android beta testers have apparently started receiving a new WhatsApp feature that enables voice notes to be sent as status updates. According to a feature tracker, the function enables you to communicate voice status updates “with a specific audience determined inside your privacy settings.” For a limited number of customers on the beta channel, the new capability is accessible in the text status area. Like video, photo, and text updates, these speech status updates likewise vanish after 24 hours.
Select beta testers who have updated to version 2.23.2.8 can now publish voice notes as WhatsApp Status updates, according to a report by feature tracker WABetaInfo. The feature is accessible under the text status area of WhatsApp, according to the website, which also adds that a voice status update can be recorded for a maximum of 30 seconds. Before re-recording and sharing a recording, users can also delete it.
Voice notes are equally protected by end-to-end encryption as other status updates are (E2EE). Within their privacy settings, users may also specify who is permitted to view their Status. Voice status updates vanish similarly to video, photo, and text updates after 24 hours. The WABetaInfo report also stated that it is likely that the feature will be available.
According to reports, WhatsApp is also developing a capability to handle spam messages more effectively. The messaging app, which is owned by Meta, was discovered testing a feature that would let users ban those who are not in their contact list from the notification bar. Users will eventually be able to blacklist shady and unknown contacts without opening the conversation thanks to this feature.
There are now two actions available in WhatsApp message notifications: reply and mark as read. According to the feature tracker, the future feature will give users a third choice: Block, which will be available only for messages received from unknown senders.
