The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has published a report on the monsoon season’s weather across the nation.
Most areas may experience normal to slightly below-normal rainfall, according to PMD’s forecast. While western Balochistan can expect near-normal rainfall, northern regions may see slightly above-normal amounts.
Across the nation, seasonal temperatures are predicted to stay within “normal” to “higher than normal” ranges. According to the report, the monsoon will last from July to September, when temperatures are likely to be normal or above normal.
Urban and flash flooding is likely to occur as a result of heavy isolated rains in some areas. In Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir, record-high temperatures could hasten snowmelt, resulting in increased water flow into rivers and perhaps hill torrents.
Farmers have been advised by PMD to make water conservation plans for the upcoming Kharif season. Residents of neighborhoods close to waterways have also been urged to exercise caution and act quickly in the event of unexpected flooding.
