Melek Mosso, a well-known Turkish singer, chopped off her hair live on stage to support the anti-hijab demonstrations in Iran after Mahsa Amini’s passing. The controversial morality police of Iran detained the 22-year-old for improperly donning her headscarf. Her relatives said that after being assaulted by police while in detention, she passed away.
Melek Mosso was observed shaving her head as she was performing, and the audience cheered her on.

As a result of being removed from the stage in 2020 for objecting to the release of a Turkish police officer who had committed rape, Mosso has a reputation for supporting women’s rights.
Melek Mosso had then questioned, “What kind of a system is this? I’m being removed off the platform for speaking out against these rapes and killings.
“You don’t need anyone to tell you how to act, what to do, or how to dress, girls. You have your own wings. You don’t need to be under anyone’s wing. Fly,” said Melek Mosso during a previous performance. “If you want to be open, open up. If you want to talk, speak up.”
As the protests entered their eleventh day on Tuesday, AFP reported that more than 75 people had perished in the crackdown in Iran.
