Senior Vice-President of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Maryam Nawaz, who is best known for her fiery political statements and digs, took a vacation from politics on Wednesday to prepare for iftar in Ramadan.
A fruit chaat was made by the PML-N lawmaker, who also serves as the party’s top organizer, hours before iftar time.
Maryam took a break from her stern political image and gave her Twitter fans a glimpse of a very different side of her.
The party’s heir used the microblogging platform to upload a video of herself preparing the delectable Ramadan snack for breaking fast, giving everyone a glimpse into her kitchen.
With her confidante and Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb by her side, the party’s main planner was spotted tossing fruits in a dish, breaking from her typically severe demeanour.
Maryam was seen combining the fruit salad with a coworker who was adding pomegranate seeds as the minister added some seasonings to the mixture.
“Iftar preps and what iftar without fruit chat! Sirf siyasat nahi kerte ([We] don’t just do politics,” she wrote in her tweet.

The PML-N leader emphasised that although politics keeps her occupied the majority of the time, she also loves cooking.
Maryam, who was wearing an icy blue shalwar kameez, appeared rather put together as she quickly made fruit chaat, a dish that is a mainstay in most Pakistani homes during Ramadan.
In a single day, Maryam successfully completes the task at hand while defying the gender stereotypes that society has established for women.
The PML-N loyalist was performing her political responsibilities earlier today when she spoke at a gathering of attorneys in Rawalpindi and criticised Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial for his comments about lawmakers during a hearing of the Punjab election postponement case.
“When the parliamentarians were talking about law and Constitution, you [CJP] taunted them. Do you know how prideful it is to go to jail for an ideology?” she said.
