Fawad Chaudhry, a former minister of information and the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), sobbed as he recalled being detained in a sedition case.
Details indicate that the PTI leader spoke about his time in detention for sedition during an appearance on the ARY News programme “Off the Record.”
When asked about his children, Fawad Chaudhry sobbed and that it hurt when they came to see him in jail, adding that he used to miss the kids when he was in detention.
The former minister decried the way he was brought before the court handcuffed and with his head covered during the programme, claiming that he was arrested before the lawsuit was filed. He alleged that the cops informed him that they had orders to arrest him when he inquired about warrants.
Fawad Chaudhry added that the police have still not given him back his phone, which was taken away when he was arrested. He claimed that he did not experience any physical aggression though.
It is important to note that Fawad Chaudhry, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was released from Adiala prison after an Islamabad court granted him bail in a sedition case.
A court in Islamabad granted bail to the former information minister in a case where he was accused of “threaten[ing]” members of the Pakistani Election Commission, leading to his release from custody (ECP).
Fawad Chaudhry’s bail application was granted by the Islamabad court on the condition that he would refrain from using similar language to disparage a constitutional institution.
The judge granted the PTI leader bail in exchange for Rs 20,000 in surety bonds.
