Following the global release of the X90 flagships, Vivo intends to flood the market with mid-range devices. The rumoured V27 catalogue will be released soon, but in the meantime, the brand unveiled the “Vivo Y56 5G” to give people a taste of what they have in the works. Here’s what the newcomer has to offer.
With a 6.58-inch Full HD+ LCD screen and a standard 60Hz refresh rate, the Y56 falls into the sub-mid-range segment. A V-shaped cutout melts into the screen, allowing access to the 16MP selfie shooter. The chin and forehead are slightly protruding, but the design conceals all flaws.
The phone is a straight slab with flat rails, a matte texture, a dual-silo camera unit, and a lustrous accent spanning the phone’s top horizontal portion. The metallic rims that surround the lenses are a nice touch. Its rails house all the usual extras, such as a volume rocker, a type-C port, speakers, a SIM tray, and a microphone. The sensor-meshed power button for fingerprint ID appears to be the most notable feature.
In terms of photography, the Vivo new 5G model has a fantastic 50MP high-resolution camera, as well as a depth mapper for all those portrait enthusiasts. As Vivo puts it, the “cherry on top” is the Super Night feature. Users will, however, find a stripe of flash LED lights alongside the camera, just in case.
Under the hood, a MediaTek Dimensity 700 chip will handle all of the work. It will tackle power consumption with no excuses, thanks to 8GB physical memory and 8GB virtual memory. On the storage front, you have 128GB of space, which is more than enough for most people. The Y56 comes pre-installed with Android 13 skinned as FunTouch OS 13.
When it comes to battery and charging, the Y56 5G comes as no surprise. It has the standard 5000mAh and 18W batteries. The phone, which comes in the colours Black Engine and Orange Shimmer, will be available in India first before expanding to other markets, starting at $250 USD (PKR 65,000). We are unable to confirm whether it will launch in Pakistan at this time.
