According to WKYC, a Cleveland-based station, the video-sharing site first posted the video on March 29, 2023, and it went viral in less than 24 hours. When school officials saw the footage on Facebook, they immediately released a statement addressing the incident.
Following the release of the footage, Amherst Superintendent Mike Molnar informed residents in the region that the bus driver had resigned. In the statement, Molnar stated that the driver’s acts “do not represent the values and standards we uphold as a district.” Molnar accepted the bus driver’s resignation instantly and informed the parents that the school district’s aim is to provide a secure, caring, and compassionate learning environment.
