According to allegations, a man strangled his girlfriend to death, then put her body in a suitcase and concealed it beneath the bed in their hotel room.
Before the body was found on October 26, Vicente Palomino Rosales is reported to have confessed to the heinous crime to his mother.
However, the 25-year-old Peruvian is currently evading capture and being sought by law enforcement.
He is suspected of killing his partner Sandra Karin Villena, 32, who was discovered by hotel staff after they allegedly smelled something unpleasant coming from the room in the Ecuadorian beach resort community of Montanita.
Prior to being discovered dead, Sandra was last seen on October 22. According to local police head Geovanny Benitez, Rosales left the hotel on that day.
Peruvian media also reported that shortly afterwards Rosales wiped all of the photos from his Instagram account.
Benitez said: “On Wednesday they entered and were seen until Saturday.”
However, the couple was no again spotted together at the hotel after that.
Unidentified Sandra’s mother, who resides in Peru, reportedly informed Peruvian media that the pair had been on vacation in Ecuador.
The woman’s body was hauled out of the hotel and examined forensically. Contrary to initial local media claims, the authorities verified that the woman’s body was entire and had not been dismembered.
After her son allegedly confessed to killing Sandra, the suspect’s mother, Frida Maria Palomino Rosales, reportedly also contacted law enforcement.
