Mekgh, an office worker who has lived in Abu Dhabi for the past eight years, bought a bottle of Mahzooz water right before the live drawing on Saturday, and now he is a millionaire.
Mekgh, who won AED 1 million (PKR 7.5 crore), was too busy running errands to independently check the results. He received a call from one of his friends, who informed him that he had won the lottery.
Initially dubious, he checked Mahzooz’s account and watched the draw video on YouTube, where he could see his name and raffle ID number, to confirm the information.
The Nepali expat is now one of the few millionaires in Nepal thanks to Mahzooz lottery winnings. The first of them, Bharat, won AED 10 million the previous year. Padam came in second with AED 20 million, and Surya took home AED 1 million this year.
The 45-year-old father of two hopes to use his million-dirham victory to start a small business, build a house, and secure the future of his kids.
For just AED 35, one can purchase a bottle of Mahzooz water and enter the draw. This qualifies a person to participate in the weekly draw, which is held every Saturday and offers the chance to win the top prize of AED 20 million as well as a second prize of AED 1 million.
In the most recent draw, Mahzooz gave away AED 475,500 in prizes to 1,119 players.
