Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, president of COP28 and minister of industry and advanced technology for the United Arab Emirates (UAE), stated on Thursday that the UAE is interested in looking into investment opportunities in Pakistan’s renewable energy sector.
Jaber stated that the UAE is eager to identify investment projects for its public and private sector organizations and work with our counterparts in Pakistan during a conversation with Federal Minister for Climate Change & Environmental Coordination Sherry Rehman during his day-long official visit.
The visiting minister focused on alternative energy in particular, saying that the UAE is eager to collaborate with Pakistan on this front and use its size and resources to advance renewable energy assets.
Jaber stated that liquefied natural gas (LNG) and product supply are both topics of interest for his nation in the conventional energy sector. He added that he would be pleased to engage in such discussions.
In a press release from a day earlier, the climate change minister Sherry Rehman said that the president of COP28 was in Pakistan on an official invitation to share Pakistan’s progress toward its environmental and climate goals before the COP28 conference in the United Arab Emirates.
During the official visit, the UAE minister will also speak with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
