
In honor of the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday, the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources of the UAE has declared that Friday, September 29, 2023, will be a public holiday for federal government employees.
The announcement states that government employees will have a three-day weekend and report back to work on Monday, October 2, 2023.
Employees in the private sector will also have Friday off because the UAE Cabinet has granted both public and private sector workers the same number of leaves.
Milad-un-Nabi is the name of this special day for those who are not familiar. It is observed by Muslims worldwide on the twelfth day of the Islamic month of Rabi al-Awwal.
In the Islamic world, it is a significant day that honors the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and has spiritual significance.
It is also important to note that the UAE’s National Day holiday will fall on December 2 and 3 (Saturday and Sunday), making the 12 Rabi Al-Awwal holiday the final long weekend for UAE citizens this year.
