On social media, former Pakistani star Shoaib Akhtar criticised Afghan supporters and encouraged Shafiq Stanikzai, the former head of the Afghanistan Cricket Board, to draw lessons from the experience.
He tweeted: “This is what Afghan fans are doing.
“This is what they’ve done in the past multiple times.
“This is a game and it’s supposed to be played and taken in the right spirit.
“Shafiq Stanikzai your crowd & your players both need to learn a few things if you guys want to grow in the sport.”
There have been accusations that the nasty scenes developed as a result of a fight between the players that was allegedly started by Afghanistan bowler Fareed Malik abusing Asif Ali.
Videos posted online depict both groups of fans fighting outside the stadium in addition to assaults within the stadium.
