According to a source, two decomposing bodies were discovered on Monday in the residence of a former longtime mayor of Rhode Island.
According to WJAR, authorities in the city of Woonsocket made the surprising find when they discovered an elderly man and elderly woman in the residence of Susan Menard, a former mayor of Woonsocket.
According to the city, Menard led the city for more than 10 years, starting her term in 1995 and ending it in 2009. It appears that she has served as mayor the longest in the history of the city.
The television station stated that it is currently unknown if Menard is one of the two bodies that were discovered in the house.
According to police, the bodies were “badly decomposed,” and the medical examiner is looking into them. Additionally, according to authorities, there are currently no indications of illegal activity, WJAR said.
There was no more information available Monday night, including how long the bodies had been there.
Woonsocket is home to more than 40,000 residents and is less than 20 miles from Providence.
