TRIBUTES have flooded in for a “physically fit” guy who fell and died in front of his squad during a football game.
Morgan Brick, 23, was playing for Gloucester City PAN, a club that gives those with disabilities the opportunity to participate, when tragedy struck.
Morgan told the referee he felt unwell shortly after kickoff before falling seconds later.
On Sunday, emergency personnel raced to the ground at Gloucestershire Football Association in Almondsbury.
Because the young man was not breathing, a defibrillator was required.
Despite the best efforts of paramedics, his coach, and hospital staff, Morgan died as a result of what seems to be a heart attack.
Tributes have already flooded in for him, and a GoFundMe page has been put up in his honor.
A family member said: “Morgan was a loving son, grandson, brother, father, boyfriend and uncle.
“He was passionate about sport playing both rugby and football.
“Morgan also captained the Dixies Twisters skittles team.
“Morgan was proud to be part of all three. And from this love of sport, many friendships were made.”
His former teacher said: “I have such fond memories of him. So sorry to hear this sad news, he was a fabulous boy with such a great character.”
Gloucestershire-based charity Goals Beyond Grass is also helping to support Morgan’s family.
CEO Brian Dix, 58, said: “We are all shocked and sad that Morgan could not be saved.
“He was autistic, and this is why he played for Gloucester City PAN.
“He was physically fit and nothing to indicate otherwise.
“He was a lovely lad, always joking around and full of fun.
“He loved sport and would always be at training, and he played rugby too, he loved sport.”
