Pakistan Railways has decided to resume train operation between Peshawar and Karachi from October 1.
Train track repairs and renovations in the flood-affected area will take place during 24-hour shift work.
The railway track from Sukkur to Karachi has been examined by Pakistan Railways’ chief engineer.
The track, which was harmed by disastrous floods in the area, will be repaired by September 29, according to railway officials.
“Train booking for the route will begin in the next two days, according to officials.
On September 20, Pakistan Railways announced a 10-day extension to the suspension of train service out of Karachi due to track damage from Nawabshah to Khairpur.
Customers that paid advance booking fees would be reimbursed by the department.
It is important to note that flooding has caused the train service from Karachi to be suspended for the past month.
“Train tracks have started drying at multiple locations from Nawabshah to Khairpur, while it is underwater from Paddidan to Bochheri”, officials said.
The track from Paddidan to Bhirya Road station is totally dry. From Bochheri to Paddidan, however, railway service can resume with a warning speed of 15 km/h, according to officials.
A track condition survey is being done by the department from Ran Pathani station to Khairpur.
