Tony Knapp, a SOUTHAMPTON legend, died at the age of 86.
The former defender, who also played for Leicester, Coventry, Tranmere, and the Los Angeles Wolves, has received tributes.
Between 1961 and 1967, Knapp played 260 times for Southampton and scored twice.
He played a part in the Saints’ 1965 promotion to the Premier League before retiring from the game seven years later after a stint at Poole Town.
Knapp later made the transition into management and oversaw the Icelandic national team from 1974 to 1977.
He then spent a number of years in Norway, where in 1979 Viking won both the league and cup.
The Saints led the tributes with a statement that read: “Southampton is saddened to learn of the passing of Tony Knapp, who made 260 appearances for the club between 1961 and 1967.
“Our thoughts are with Tony’s family and loved ones.”
