TikToker Philecia La’Bounty alleges that eight months after being refused mammography due to her young age and family medical history, she was finally told she had stage four breast cancer. La’Bounty discussed her battle with breast cancer in a video she released in July, recounting the moment she first discovered a lump in 2018. It didn’t feel like her breast tissues, she said, and was a little smaller than a marble.
La’Bounty, 35, said in a TikTok video that she didn’t have insurance at the time, so she went to a community clinic in Long Beach, California, to have an ultrasound. She was denied a mammogram even though the findings said the bump was a small tumour. I was 29 at the time.
She said that her subsequent application was turned down once more. La’Bounty said in the film, “I had great bloodwork, no other symptoms, no other masses, so they denied any other treatment, told me I was healthy, it was just a cyst, and come back if it troubled me. They also said I was too young to have breast cancer. According to La’Bounty, she returned to the Long Beach hospital eight months later because the tumour had grown to a size of eight centimetres in her left breast, which bothered her.
“Had I seen someone that I related to that was posting about this, I would have taken my situation more seriously. I would have fought harder. I would have found a way to pay for a mammogram. If I can save one life, that’s worth everything I post,” she said. La’Bounty was taken to a treatment center for breast cancer at the City of Hope in Duarte, California. La’Bounty said, “That’s where I had eight biopsies, I forget how many in each breast and one in my armpit. The next day, following that, I had an emergency PET scan and MRI.”
It was an emergency mammography and ultrasound when La’Bounty returned this time. “That’s when I knew that it was cancer,” she recalled. “While she was conducting the ultrasound she kept going out for opinion and coming back in.” She told Insider on August 18 that she will require ongoing chemotherapy treatments for the rest of her life. She has been transparent about her experience in an effort to encourage people to look for solutions and take action when something in their bodies appears off.

Later, it was discovered that she had stage 4 breast cancer, which had spread to her sternum, lymph nodes, and lungs. She immediately started six doses of chemotherapy, according to her TikTok video. One dose of a substance she called “the red devil,” which the Moffitt Cancer Center defines as another name for the drug doxorubicin, was among the prescriptions. The red-colored drug helps the heart fight cancer, according to the Moffitt Cancer Center.
Despite La’Bounty’s assertions that a recent PET scan showed no signs of the illness, she continues to receive oral chemotherapy in five-week cycles. La’Bounty decided to freeze 10 of her eggs before to starting her first round of chemotherapy after realising she might lose her ability to conceive. “I’ve always wished I could carry my own offspring. I continue to see a therapist for that today “explained her.
