A man from Chicago has been detained on suspicion of torturing and killing multiple kittens.
According to FOX Chicago, Thomas Martel, 22, turned himself in to police on Monday after a lady filed an animal cruelty complaint against him.
He is accused with four charges of aggravated animal cruelty and two counts of animal torture, all of which are felonies.
Authorities claim Martel drowned and squeezed two animals to death, while mutilating a third.
Officers discovered a cat in a plastic bag at Martel’s apartment.
According to the woman who reported him, the cat had been microwaved.
Shelly was the name given to each of the kittens who perished.
According to an arrest report received by the news site, Martel was taking prescription medications and suffered from major mental health concerns.
