Authorities say an Ohio mother of two committed murder-suicide, killing four family members and critically injuring another.
According to the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office, Theresa Cain, 46, fatally shot her husband, Steven Cain, 50; the couple’s son, Ethan Cain, 13; and her father, William Felton, 74, at their Ohio Township, Ohio, home on Monday.
Authorities say Cain also shot her 20-year-old daughter, Samantha Cain, who is in critical condition, before turning the gun on herself.
Deputies arrived at Cain’s home on Monday to serve an eviction notice, according to a news release.
Multiple gunshots were heard coming from inside the residence as they approached the door, according to the release.
When authorities arrived, they discovered four people dead from gunshot wounds. Samantha, the fifth gunshot victim, was still alive and was transported to a nearby hospital.
New Richmond Superintendent Tracey Miller stated on the school district’s website, ” “We are shocked and saddened by Ethan Cain’s death. Ethan was loved by both students and staff, and his death has left a huge void in our district and community.”
“We also ask that you keep Ethan’s sister, Samantha Cain, a recent New Richmond High School graduate, in your prayers. The entire New Richmond community is rooting for her in this battle “The statement went on.
Samantha is currently a student at Northern Kentucky University, according to WCPO.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to assist with her medical expenses.
