The Indian cricket board (BCCI) announced on Monday that the third test between India and Australia has been moved to Indore due to issues with the outfield at the original site in Dharamsala.
In preparation for what would have been only the second test match ever held at the magnificent stadium in Dharamsala, which is bordered by snow-capped mountains of the Dauladhar range, the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association has recently re-laid the outfield.
According to BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, “because of the severe winter weather in the area, the outfield lacks proper grass density and will need some time to mature fully.”
The third game will now take place at Indore’s Holkar Stadium, which has already hosted two test matches since 2016. India won easily and inside three days in Nagpur on Saturday, taking a 1-0 lead in the four-test series for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
The second game will be played in New Delhi starting on Friday, while Ahmedabad will host the final test.
