‘The Night Agent Trailer
On February 8, 2023, the teaser trailer for The Night Agent was released. The following is the official synopsis, as well as a teaser:
“Based on the novel by Matthew Quirk, the series is a sophisticated, character-based, action thriller centering on a low-level FBI Agent who works in the basement of the White House, manning a phone that never rings — until the night that it does, propelling him into a fast-moving and dangerous conspiracy that ultimately leads all the way to the Oval Office.”
The Night Agent follows an FBI agent who has the unfortunate experience of working a low-level position in one of the country’s most secure establishments. His job is straightforward: he manages a phone line for undercover spies in the White House basement. The only problem is that the phone never rings. At this point, he is questioning his life choices when the phone rings, sparking a series of dangerous events and revealing a deadly conspiracy lurking beneath the Oval Office.
Matthew Quirk’s bestselling novel of the same name serves as the basis for the series. Shawn Ryan, the novel’s creator, picked up the novel right at the start of quarantine in 2020, eventually becoming a huge fan of it.
“If you like the Jack Ryan books, the Jack Reacher books, if you like the Bourne Identity stuff, if you like political intrigue, then The Night Agent is for you.”
The Night Agent is a political thriller novel written by Quirk about FBI Agent Peter Sutherland, who is stationed in the White House basement and keeps a phone line for undercover operatives that never rings. One fateful night, the phone rings, triggering a chain of events that reveals a massive conspiracy involving a Russian mole at the highest levels of the US administration. Peter must go on a desperate chase and break the rules to catch the traitor and save the country, all while questioning everything and trusting no one. The novel has been compared to the early works of John Grisham and David Baldacci, and the series appears to be in the same vein as recent hit shows such as Reacher and The Recruit.
