Tesla is getting ready to roll out the “Charge On Solar” feature, which will increase the sustainability of electric vehicles (EVs).
The company, which is well-known for its electric vehicles and solar technologies, announced that Tesla owners can now fully charge their vehicles using extra solar energy from Tesla’s Powerwall system. Their carbon footprint will decrease and EV charging will change as a result.
The “Charge On Solar” feature necessitates modifications to the Tesla vehicle and the Powerwall home battery system. If they want to use this green charging feature, Tesla owners must have version 2023.26 or later. Additionally, the Tesla mobile app must be updated to version 4.22.5 in order to synchronize the vehicle and Powerwall.
After these changes, “Charge On Solar” can be enabled by Tesla app users. Users can choose their charging location and set charge restrictions using this functionality. Customers can match their EV charging to their energy needs with this level of customization.
With the “Charge On Solar” option, Tesla vehicles can continuously monitor the charging status to reduce energy use. Every ten seconds, the charging system is adjusted. Users can also schedule solar charging to improve energy management and reduce utility costs.
Note that this feature is exclusive to Tesla Powerwalls. Owners of independent solar power systems cannot access “Charge On Solar” at this time.
