Telegram CEO Pavel Durov recently announced that the messaging service will launch Stories in early July.
Durov acknowledged that this feature has been requested by users for a long time, with Stories accounting for more than half of all feature requests Telegram receives. Because Stories are so widely used on other platforms, the company was initially hesitant to add the feature but ultimately decided to give user feedback priority.
Users will be able to decide who sees their story after Telegram Stories go live. They can decide whether to share their stories with all of their contacts, just a few people, or a specific group of close friends.
Stories will be accessible and conveniently located in an expandable section at the top of the chat list. Additionally, users will have the choice to move certain contacts’ Stories to the “Hidden” list in their Contacts section, allowing them to remain clutter-free on their main screen.
To improve your storytelling, you can also add captions and links. Users can also tag other people in their Stories, making it simple to interact and engage. Similar to the BeReal concept, the feature will also enable users to take pictures and videos with both the front and rear cameras active at the same time.
Additionally, users will be able to decide how long their Stories will last. They can select an expiration time for the Story that will prevent it from being seen after 6, 12, 24, or 48 hours.
As an alternative, users have the choice to display their Stories consistently on their profile page, much like Instagram does with its Story highlights, allowing them to compile a collection of priceless moments for their audience to enjoy.
