After a 17-year-old boy was fatally stabbed at a birthday party, COPS detained a teen.
At 11:22 p.m. on Friday, emergency services arrived at Granville Road, Brent, London, after hearing reports of a fight in the street and a stabbing.
A 17-year-old boy passed away there. An additional male, also believed to be 17, received treatment on-site before being taken to the hospital.
In the meantime, a woman in her early 20s was being treated in a hospital for a hand injury.
Specialist Crime Command detectives are conducting their investigation. An 18-year-old man was taken into custody this evening on murder suspicion. He is now in police custody.
“We think there was a fight after a birthday party, which would have been attended by a number of people,” said Detective Chief Inspector Mark Rogers. “I kindly request that anyone who was there but hasn’t yet spoken with officers come forward. It is imperative that we ascertain what took place.”
“I would also ask anyone who may have video or photos of the events from last night to get in touch with the police.”
The scene of the crime is still there.
Brent’s police chief, Chief Superintendent Dan Knowles, stated: “I know that the community will be shocked by this incident in which a young man has lost his life.”
“We will collaborate with our Specialist Crime colleagues to make sure that this investigation moves along as quickly and thoroughly as possible.
“Locals should expect to see more police in the area, and I would encourage anyone with information or worries to speak with them,” the statement reads.”
Anybody with information is urged to contact the police by dialing 101 and providing the reference CAD 8929/14Jul.
