Wealdstone FC is in grief following the untimely death of a 14-year-old youth standout.
Teddy Disson-Meade, a “fantastically gifted” footballer with a promising future, died earlier this week, leaving his teammates and coaches in shock and grief.
In a statement released on social media on Friday afternoon (April 28), the club said there will be a minute’s silence before the senior team’s National League clash with Southend on Saturday (April 29) and players will wear “t-shirts in Teddy’s memory” during the warm up.
“It is with incredibly heavy hearts that we announce that Wealdstone Youth U14 Reds player Teddy Disson-Meade sadly passed away earlier this week,” the statement read.
“Teddy was a fantastically gifted player but more importantly a popular and valued member of our U14 group, he will be greatly missed by all his friends here at the club.
“Our thoughts go out to his parents Sinead and Ricky at this time and of course to all his friends and family.”
Tributes have been pouring in on social media since the news broke. One Twitter user wrote: “My son was involved against your academy this week, can’t even begin to imagine how the parents/family/club are feeling. So young.
