The Mormon mother who went too far with “soft swinging” has been detained for domestic abuse.
Taylor Frankie Paul, a 28-year-old influencer with more than 4 million TikTok followers, was apprehended by police on Saturday in Herriman, Utah, a suburb of Salt Lake City.
She was arrested at 1.56 a.m. and released at 10.35 a.m., according to Salt Lake County Jail records acquired by DailyMail.com, for three misdemeanour offences: assault, criminal mischief, and domestic violence in the presence of a kid.
‘I have yet to see the file on Taylor Paul,’ assistant prosecuting attorney Matt Brooks told DailyMail.com. ‘If it comes across my desk, I will screen it for possible charges like any other case.’
Mom-of-two Paul was a member of a group of Utah couples who engaged in the practise known as “soft swinging,” which involves swapping partners but only on the condition that they are not engaged in full intercourse.
Yet she made headlines last year when she acknowledged breaking the golden rule, leading to the divorce of her husband Tate and the loss of the majority of her friends.
Dakota Mortensen, her new boyfriend, told DailyMail.com that on Friday night, Paul went to a “Galentine’s Party,” a gathering of women held around Valentine’s Day, and then drove her home.
Mortensen, 30, said, “I’m not even permitted to talk with her.” I really don’t want to talk about it, but there are a few things I want to make clear.
He said, “I didn’t phone 911,” claiming that he believes a neighbour may have done so.
As they got to the residence, Mortensen remained silent about what transpired.
‘I’m going to wait for everything to come out before I speak on it,’ he said.
‘I don’t even want the truth to come out. She’s so broken right now. I tried to help her,’ he said. ‘She’s a good mom, she’s going through a lot in her life right now. Taylor’s been struggling, it’s been a hard year for her. She is racked with guilt on her cheating scandal that cost her her marriage.’
Yet, he later admitted, “She never hurt someone on purpose.” When prodded for more information, he indicated he didn’t want to go into detail.
Mortensen, a real estate broker and owner of a tiling business, continued, “We didn’t argue.” He also has a popular TikTok account where he talks about his battle with drug and alcohol addiction.
