A tailor who failed to sew an Eid suit for a customer was fined Rs. 15,000 by a court in Karachi. The petitioner who asked for payment for the unsewn suit and the cost of a replacement received a favorable decision from the Consumer Court Shargi in Karachi, presided over by Judge Fahmida Sahowal.
Fahim, the tailor, failed to show up in court or send a representative on his behalf. The tailor was mandated by the court to cover the cost of the unstitched suit, the price of the new suit, and the petitioner’s travel costs. The tailor was also fined Rs. 15,000 for failing to uphold his end of the bargain with the client.
To avoid legal repercussions and financial penalties, service providers like tailors should take their obligations seriously and fulfill them.
